Tools For Talking To Your Doctor About Bladder Leaks

If there’s one thing almost everybody with bladder leakage knows, it’s that it’s not always easy to discuss your symptoms with anyone – family, friends, even physicians. In truth, though, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about – more than 35 million Americans suffer from one form of incontinence or another, making it one of the most common medical conditions there is.

The good news is that incontinence is treatable – but only if you do something about it. That starts by talking with your doctor.

If you feel a little hesitant about speaking up, you’re not alone. In NAFC’s 2020 annual survey, we found that more than 40% of people with bladder leaks waited two or more years after their symptoms first appeared before mentioning it to their doctors. Two years! That’s 24 months of wetness, fear and embarrassment, all because the idea of talking about a real medical condition with a real medical caregiver was getting in the way. Even when patients finally did bring it up, a full 30% of them were uncomfortable with the conversation.

That’s why we developed the No Leaks program. Our goal is to help everyone living with incontinence recognize that their condition is nothing to hide. That it’s something physicians deal with every single day, and there’s no judgement regardless of what your symptoms may be. Most of all, our goal is to help you understand that help is available, and all you have to do is ask for it.

Finding the courage to speak with a physician today can be easier than you think. We’ve prepared a free packet filled with patient-friendly resources that will help overcome any concerns you may have – simply click on the link below to download it now and put yourself on the path to drier days. And if you don’t have a physician that you can visit, use the link to our doctor finder below to locate an experienced, caring provider near you.

Remember: There’s no shame in being human.
