Bread Machine Recipe: Fluffy White Bread For Sandwiches and Toast... (2)

Earlier this week on our Facebook page, we asked you if you would like us to share the perfect white bread machine recipe that we finally discovered! I had been experimenting with different recipes for a while. We have some awesome recipes for whole wheat, oat bran and more, but we have a ton of white flour and although the hearty and super healthy breads are nice, there are just times you want to sink your teeth into a nice fluffy white bread!

So, after several attempts and tries at different recipes, we found the perfect recipe for a lighter and fluffy white bread!

Here’s our new favorite bread machine recipe! The same recipe might be able to be used without a bread machine, I just haven’t tried it.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons yeast

Just add all of the above ingredients to bread pan according to manufacturers directions. Use basic/white setting, light crust, and 1.5 lb. loaf. I got this bread machine recipe from CDKitchen called Lucious White Bread. With this recipe and a great deal on flour – we have literally made bread for pennies on the dollar!

The 1 1/2 eggs baffled me as I have never seen a recipe that called for 1/2 of an egg before – but I just cracked the egg into a small bowl, used a butter knife to split the yolk down the middle and then scooped out half the mixture (when carefully cutting the yolk, it actually stays into two halves instead of running everywhere!) This seems to work well.

In addition, we had some ask how to cut the bread just right. This used to be something that we struggled with and then about 2 years ago, we bought the Norpro 370 bread slicer and it works really well! It has slots that you run your bread knife through and it will then make even slices all down your loaf of bread. In addition, it has a crumb catcher, so it really is a seamless and cleaner process.

Also, if you are looking for a way to store your bread that also helps it to last longer (as there are no preservatives!) then we would also recommend the Debbie Meyer bread bags as they are made to help your breads last longer (same concept as the produce bags). You can use these for any breads, including store bought rolls, etc. but we primarily use them to store our homemade breads in them. We purchased them on clearance at Bed Bath and Beyond about nine months ago for $4.75. Amazon has them on sale now for $4.54 (with shipping for $4.99, does not qualify for Prime). We used to have a plastic bread storage container, but it was long and skinny for the store bought loaves, and so it would never work for our homemade breads. The Debbie Meyer bags come in different sizes and they fit odd or large shaped loaves without any problems. The box has 12 reuseable bread bags and you will get your money’s worth when your baked items can last longer!

    Which bread machine do you own? And, it looks like it does an excellent job…mine is an older white-westinghouse model and I am not happy with the consistency of the bread. Maybe I need to try this recipe, too. I wonder how this recipe would do by doing this by hand. Thank you for the helpful hints.

      We have a Breadman Pro and I cannot find our exact model any longer. Perhaps they are no longer making it. I like the Breadman Pro models and so I am sure the newer versions to replace the one I have are just as good or better. Sorry that I cannot direct you to an exact model as I am not sure which one to say “this one should be like mine” but I am sure most of the Breadman Pro machines are much the same.

    I mixed the dough in the breadmaker then I punched it down and let it rise in a warm place and it was absolutely the fluffiest bread I have ever made. Thanks for the recipe!

    I have been looking for a recipe and so far this the best!! I only had the end piece right out of my machine, but it is the closest to “store bread” I have tried, and I’ve tried a few 🙄 The true test will be seeing the hubby thinks…….
