Openings are the order of the day for the South Shore's recent restaurant news.

Burgers, crepes, Mexican cuisine and seafood, seafood, seafood are even closer at hand as new – and some returning – restaurants have opened their doors from Quincy to Pembroke.

Or perhaps you want to head to a beer garden? There are two new ones this summer:

  • Braintree beer garden offers cold brews and hot food. Firepits and lawn games, too
  • New beer garden in Hingham this summer with live music, food trucks. Kids and pets welcome

Here are the some of the latest additions and updates in the South Shore restaurant scene.

Crêpes 'n Capes opens in Weymouth Landing

Crêpes ‘n Capes opened last month in Weymouth Landing at 22 Washington St.

Owner Ksenia Dubrovchenko worked in the IT field for a decade but said she had long dreamed of opening her own crêperie.

The Crêpes ‘n Capes menu, which Dubrovchenko worked on with a chef friend, offers eight choices each of savory and sweet crêpes. She prefers the savory ones, highlighting the “Crêpefinity Burger” menu item that will have a beef patty and french fries inside.

Aside from crêpes, the menu also offers pastries, smoothies, coffee and juices.

The businesses mascot is a cape-wearing crepe, giving the place its name. Customers who wore a superhero costume to the restaurant's June 2 official grand opening received a free desert.

Don Bravo Mexican Grill and Tequila Bar opens Pembroke location

Don Bravo Mexican Grill and Tequila Bar at 30 Webster St. in Marshfield has opened a second location in Pembroke after launching its first restaurant in Marshfield this past December.

The new restaurant is located at 75 Washington St. in Pembroke. It opened on April 30.

Owner Maria Bravo said in a 2023 Patriot Ledger interview that she mixes the flavor and style from Jalisco, Mexico, her hometown south of the border, while also honoring her family's history. The logo for Don Bravo is an image of her late father, Julian Bravo. She said she wanted to do something to commemorate him.

Vitamin Sea Brewing opens new location at Plymouth waterfront

Weymouth’sVitamin Sea Brewingsecond location on the Plymouth waterfront is now open.

The company made the announcement of its expansion on itsFacebook pageThursday, Jan. 18. It held its grand opening on May 29.

The 158-seat taproom is located at 98 Water St. at theBradford Lookout Marketplace and Flats. It often hosts food trucks, live music and other events.

Vitamin Sea opened its first location at 30 Moore Road in Weymouth in 2019.

Dukes' Beach House open at site of former Fieldstone in Marshfield

The building that once housed the Fieldstone Restaurant at 882 Ocean St. in Marshfield has reopened as Dukes' Beach House.

Chef Drew Garneau operates the new restaurant and bar that features appetizers, a raw bar, host of surf and turf entrees and an extensive bar and co*cktail menu.

Garneau's worked as executive chef at theRye Tavernin Plymouth for nearly three years and executive chef atVine Barin Scituate, which he left last August. Garneau, a Pembroke native living in Plymouth, is a graduate ofJohnson & WalesUniversity in Rhode Island.

Fieldstone ownerJan Perrinretired and closed the business in January 2023 after running the restaurant for 28 years, including 22 as head chef. His initial asking price was $1.65 million.

Justin Barrett, of Waltham,bought the propertyin May 2023 for $1.25 million.He also owns a home on East Street in Marshfield. Dukes' opened on April 6.

Quincy IHOP closed, will have new nearby home

Quincy's IHOP is gone, but only for a little while.

Last November, the city took the property at 115 Parkingwayby eminent domain, paying the landlord, LBC Boston, $9.45 million for the taking. LBC Boston also owns Nova Quincy, the seven-story, 171-unit apartment complex in the downtown, and other properties in the city center, including 181-191 Parkingway. It will again become IHOP's landlord.

A sign on the door of the popular restaurant directs them to the nearest locations in Braintree and Brockton.

IHOP will reopen across the street at 181-191 Parkingway, next to Petco, with $1.2 million from the city.

The old IHOP building will be demolished to make way for alarge commercial/residential projectby Atlantic Development includingTrader Joe's, a six-story, 300-unit residential building and a parking garage.

When the new location will open remains unclear.

Nantasket Flats reopens in Hull

Nantasket Flatts has reopened at 145 Nantasket Ave. in Hull after closing 18 months ago.

This time around, the atmosphere will be more laidback, with a "no frills, very casual, come-off-the-beach attitude," Tracy Vaughan, who co-owns the restaurant with her husband, Richard, told the Patriot Ledger in February.

The couple also runsThe Jettyin Marshfield andThe Blue Oarin Cohasset.

The Hull restaurant offers summertime favorites such as hamburgers, hot dogs, fried clams, lobster and a raw bar. It opened near the end of May. It reopened on May 22.

Nantasket Flatts closed in January 2023 after a 3½-year run, with the Vaughans citing the COVID-19 pandemic and difficulty maintaining staff as key reasons for the shutdown.

Although they reopened the restaurant, the business remains for sale at a list price of $1.5 million.

The two-story restaurant includes three kitchens and bars, a patio and ocean views.

Through June 23, the restaurant will be open Thursday and Friday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.; Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., accordingto its license. After that, through Sept. 23, the restaurant will expand its hours to include Tuesday and Wednesday, then return to the reduced schedule.
